Dalhousie is a hill station in Chamba district, in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated on five hills and has an elevation of 1,970 m (6,460 ft) above sea level. This pristine hill station is accompanied by colonial charm and misty mountains. Because of its proximity to the Dhauladhar mountain range, Dalhousie enjoys a pleasant weather throughout the year which attract thousands of visitors

Things To Do In Dalhousie:

Go boating at the Chamera Lake:


Nestled in a valley in the midst of pine forests, the lake is an excellent site for activities like angling and boating. The Chamera Lake is an artificial lake situated at Chourah in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.  The Himachal Pradesh Tourism department has built a boat house adjacent to the lake near Taleru, which has facilities for water sports like river rafting, motor boating, canoeing, and kayaking. Other than the water sports, pedal boats and rowing boats are also available for the tourists. The Bhandal Valley and the Bhalei temple are the other tourist spots near Chamera Lake.
Chamera Lake, though located in the midst of dense forests, is well connected by roads making it easy to reach the place.

Take a dip at the Satdhara falls:


Satdhara means seven springs. This place is surrounded by fantastic views of the Chamba valley - with snow-covered ranges and fresh, green pine and deodar trees.This waterfall brings together the waters of seven beautiful springs. The water here is said to contain mica, which has medicinal properties to cure skin diseases.

Experience the Magic of whispering woods at the Panch Pulla:


Situated at a distance of 2 – 3 Km. from the downtown area of Dalhousie, 'Panch Pulla' is one of the best vacation spots in the city and is a most loved weekend spot for picnickers, nature darlings and trekkers. Actually signifying 'Five Bridges', the place is a standout amongst the most beautiful destinations in the locale. Panch Pulla stands for five bridges. With whispering woods around, you will find this place to have a magical influence on you. What adds to that is the combination of lush greenery and old bridges.

Go paragliding at the Khajjiar:


Khajjiar, a tiny tourist resort in Chamba about 24 kms from Dalhousie; The moment one enters the picturesque Khajjiar, one is welcomed by a yellow Swiss sign for ‘hiking path’ which reads “Mini Switzerland”

Paragliding is another one of the exciting activities and things to do in Dalhousie. The favourable months for paragliding are months of September to November and January and June, when the weather conditions are most ideal. Most of these activities are held at Khajjiar and you should definitely experience it when in the hill town.

Go for a scenic hike at Dainkund peak:


Dainkund Peak offers 360 degree views of the surrounding valley and mountains. Nature lovers and photographers alike will revel in the scenic beauty here, and spiritual visitors may be interested in visiting Pholani Devi temple nearby.

Dainkund is famously known as the singing hill, thanks to the musical serenade caused by the calm breeze while blowing through the woods! Perched at an altitude of 2755 metres, Dainkund peak is the highest mount in Dalhousie! An enchanting trek through the scenic charm of Dalhousie is what you might need to refresh your soul.

Hiking at kalatop sanctuary park:


With dense Deodar and fir forests spreading over 19.63 sq. km, the Kalatop Khajjiar Sanctuary is a 30.69 sq. km animal sanctuary located at Kalatop and Khajjiar in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at a distance of 6 Km from Dalhousie 

The sanctuary has a perfect route for trekking from Dalhousie to Kalatop and this is extremely admired by tourists. Jungle Safari and hiking are other interesting ways to explore the wildlife. Summer season is the best time to visit this sanctuary.

See the beautiful architecture of St John Church:


The architecture of the church is similar to the Roman Catholic's Church of England; the only difference is that the St. John's Church belongs to the Protestants community. This Protestant Church is filled with the memories of the British regime in Dalhousie, and is an embodiment of the Victorian era.

Offer prayers at Chamunda Devi Temple:


Words are not enough to describe the beauty of the Chamunda Devi Temple, which is situated on the banks of the stunning Baner River. It is known to be one of the most famous temples of the region and is believed to be 750 years old. The Chamunda Devi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, who is the ferocious incarnation of Goddess Durga Devi. The exquisite location of this temple makes it one of the most unique and must visit destinations in Dalhousie

it is said that this is the same place where Goddess Ambika killed the two demons, Munda and Chanda, in a fight that continued for thousands of years. The statue of the deity in this temple is wrapped in a red cloth, so that the devotees don't touch the deity. 

There are several images of other gods and goddesses in the temple and the tourists can see them and capture the images to lock the memories forever.

Shop at Tibetan Handicrafts Market:


While there are numerous fascinating shopping destinations in Dalhousie, what pulls in guests the most is the 'Tibetan Handicrafts Market'. Situated in Gandhi Chowk territory, the market is a center for shopaholics offering them a range of workmanship items going from credible Tibetan high quality woolens and floor coverings to little knickknacks, toys and gifts.
